On May 21, Professor Jean-Pierre Gaudin, the senior researcher of CNRS, came to visit our university. As Director of CNRS and a Professor of public policy of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques d’Aix–en- Provence, Gaudin had made outstanding achievements in the research fields of government governance, city public policy, city planning and territorial control, and once successively acted as a visiting professor and researcher in Universite de Lausanne of Switzerland, Belo-horizonte university of Brazil, and Turin university of Italy.
In the morning, chaired by Director Zhang Weiliang of the Institute for Urban Studies, Professor Gaudin gave a lecture to the teachers and students of the department of History in Humanities School, the title of which was “ Governance: ambiguity and reality”.
During the speech, He used simple languages to interpret the origin and development of the concept “governance” and the new concept of “government governance” with typical cases. He also answered the questions raised by the attendants around city management and French culture with great patience. The lecture created a big stir among the students and teachers and they all benefited a lot from it.
After the lecture, in the afternoon, the leaders of the foreign affairs department, etc. held talks with Professor Gaudin around the cooperation on urban research projects, students training and the exchange of visitors, etc. and reached a certain consensus.
