A Preparatory Meeting of “the Real City and the Ideal City”

On February 25, 2012, a preparatory meeting of “the Real City and the Ideal City” was held in Hangzhou. The vice-president of our university He Jun, the linguistic and educational commissioner Mr. Philippe Mogentale of the French embassy in China, President of Chinese French History Research Association and researcher of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Duan Mumei, the secretary of the Party Committee of the Humanities School of Zhe Jiang university Professor Shen Jun, and directors of the Institute for Urban Studies, the Department of Social Sciences, and the Foreign Affairs Department, etc. of our university attended the meeting. During the meeting, He Jun gave an introduction to the urban studies of our university and promised to spare no efforts to make sure the success of the meeting. He also hoped that extensive exchanges and cooperation in language, education and sports etc. could be carried out between France and us.
Mr. Philippe Mogentale gave a detailed explanation of the tentative meeting plan and believed that it’s strategic to make Hangzhou the meeting place. He planed to invite some professors of urban studies of East Asia and Europe who were of different cultures to the meeting. He also agreed to help build more relations between the French universities and institutes and our university. At last, after a detailed discussion about the meeting arrangement, the participants visited our branch campus in the Yu Huanshan district and the meeting center in the Cang Qian Science and Technology district, so as to make a full preparation for the meeting to be held in September.
