On November 10-11, the first “West Lake·Tianshan Forum”, co-organized by Hangzhou Normal University(HNU) and Shi Hezi University, was held in Hangzhou. The theme of the forum was “Culture Construction and Social Management”. Director Zhang Weilaing, Institute for Urban Studies of HNU, attended the forum and made a report titled “University Town: Culture Construction and Regional Social Development----a Case Study of Hangzhou University Town and Cangqian Region”. He explored the relationship between the construction of University Town and regional social development & local culture heritage, and proposed how to foster new regional social culture through the combination of modern culture and traditional culture heritage to highlight regional social development with local characteristics.
